Creating value to Hibiscus International means contributing to the economic, environmental and social dimensions in order to be responsible within our business. We aim to continually improve our business practices to benefit all stakeholders involved.  Our real estate developers, brokers and sales associates are all encouraged to follow suit in their own daily business practices.  

 

Sustainable travel is about benefiting hosts and guests and we undertake the following initiatives to encourage this:

  • Identifying new business opportunities which incorporate the pillars of environmental, social and economic
  • Donating a percentage of our net profits to various charities supporting youth - our future.
  • Minimizing impacts on the environment in-house and in our business development through:

  • Influencing suppliers through purchasing guidelines to be more sustainable
  • Offering environmental and community sensitivity training to our employees
  • Offering fair and equitable wages and benefits to our employees
  • Providing information to travelers about responsible travel
  • Support organizations and business who work towards developing more sustainable practices
  • Support local development projects in areas visited
  • Spread good practices to our suppliers and clients whenever possible
  • Ensuring our business development:
    • Has an educational component: including providing information about responsible tourism and insight into the communities or natural areas visited
    • Visits to local industries and farms to learn about production issues
    • Use locally owned restaurants / accommodations /services /transportation wherever possible
    • Hires local guides
    • Sources food and materials locally
    • Showcases local arts and culture
    • Offers guest an opportunity to support local projects & buy locally made handicrafts/souvenirs
    • Offers small group sizes to lessen impact
    • Volunteers at community or local environmental programs
    • Outlines the benefits of smaller group sizes and their mitigated effect on the local environment and culture
