St Vincent and the Grenadines Real Estate
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a collection of 32 islands and cays are part of the Windward Islands located in the Lesser Antilles. Grenada lies to the south while St. Lucia lies to the north. The habited islands in the Grenadines include Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island and the three resort islands of Palm Island, Petit St. Vincent and Young Island. These are coral islands with white sand beaches.
The Mesopotamia Valley located in the interior of St. Vincent is often referred to as the Breadbasket of the Caribbean, with banana plantations and farms dotting the sides of the extinct volcano crater. An active volcano called La Soufrière, is located on the north side of the island. This creates the black and brown sand beaches found on the shores of St. Vincent.
Strong trade winds blow through the islands making this an ideal location for experienced sailors. Bequia has long been known to sailors around the world for its boat building industry although tourism is now the mainstay of this tiny, 7 sq. mile island. A new St. Vincent international airport is slated for completion in 2013 to accommodate larger aircraft.
