The twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago is located in the southern Caribbean, lying just 7 miles off the coast of Venezuela. Trinidad and Tobago is known for its Carnival and is considered the birthplace of calypso music and the steelpan, said to be the only acoustic musical instrument invented during the 20th C. The diverse cultural and religious background allows for many festivities and ceremonies throughout the year.
