Travelling Back in Time

Perhaps it’s the time of year or the stage of my life but I got to thinking about all the wonderful places I’ve travelled.  I’ve been blessed with a career and adventurous spirit which have opened the world to me. Sometimes I’ve returned more than once to those special places that have drawn me in and continue to occupy a piece of my heart.

Le Fouquet’s Famous Banana Cake

Several years ago I was in Paris, France to celebrate New Year’s Eve in classic Parisian style. During my stay, my friends and I indulged in a meal at the historic brasserie – Fouquet’s located in the Hotel Barrière Le Fouquet on the corner of Champs-Elysées and George V avenues. Since 1899, Le Fouquet has embodied the brilliant and festive spirit of Paris with its timeless bond to the Arts and Motion Pictures. The black and white photographs adorning the walls of the restaurant encapsulate memories from a bygone era.

It’s in the Fine Print

We’re all guilty of it … clicking the “I have read the Terms & Conditions” box without going further to read through the pages and pages of legalese. For one thing, it’s difficult to understand the terminology, let alone feel we have the time to scroll through and understand this legally binding contract. Secondly, we know we won’t get any further purchasing the much desired or needed product without first checking the box … so we just do it!

Barging on the River

Our adventurous spirits have enjoyed traveling throughout Europe for centuries. In recent years, the inland waterways have seen a growth in luxury river cruise passengers looking for the “unpack once” type of vacation. However, not to be overlooked, are the emergence of barges which provide an economical way to cruise throughout the inland canal systems of Europe.
